UIA Heading to Austin for SXSWedu 2019

UIA Heading to Austin for SXSWedu 2019

It promises to be a particularly busy SXSWedu for us this year. First, we're participating on a timely panel about improving the college-to-career experience featuring Melissa Korn of the Wall Street Journal, UIA Executive Director Bridget Burns, Michael Sorrell of Paul Quinn College, and Michele Weiss of Strada Institute for the Future of Work.

The following day, we'll be going beyond the hype about predictive analytics in higher ed to discuss what really works and how we implemented it on four of our 11 campuses. That one features four fabulous panelists: Tim Renick of Georgia State University, Deangela Burns-Wallace of University of Kansas, Carolyn Connerat of the University of Texas at Austin, and Ryan Goodwin of the University of Central Florida.
We're especially excited for the official SXSW screening of Unlikely, the fantastic documentary that tackles some of the biggest issues in higher education today from student debt to college completion rates. Features interviews with LeBron James, Howard Schultz, and UIA Executive Director Bridget Burns. It's penetrating, personal, and not to be missed.

Finally, UIA Executive Director Bridget Burns will serve as a judge for SXSW EDU's eighth annual Launch and Learn by Design competition, an annual contest that elevates groundbreaking work in the design of physical learning environments and how it impacts learning outcomes. This year’s finalists include a company that makes an AI-powered companion robot for kids and audio-guided multimodal learning experiences. Check out the full list of finalists and judges for the event here.
